Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy will be Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh the Congress announced on Wednesday, hours after Mr K. Rosaiah suddenly resigned.

The decision follows the Congress Legislature Party passing a one-line resolution empowering the Congress president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, to select a new Chief Minister.
Reddy is a three-time MLA from Pileru in the Chittoor district in Rayalseema. He has played first-class cricket for Hyderabad.
